I love heist movies but this one just tried to get too cute with it, and when that happens it just makes the plot too convoluted. Stuff just didn’t make sense, either because there were flaws in the plot, or they didn’t actually show important events to explain things. Had some good moments and an unpredictable ending but I’m not even sure how much I liked the ending anyways. Fun Cop/Heist movie with some enjoyable twists. Went in with very low expectations, expecting another run of the mill heist flick, but this cleared that low bar by a mile. Intense vibe, the cast really delivers, the action sequences are fun. Schrieber is great, Butler is over the top in a good way, Cube Jr. shows some chops. I had a good time! Somehow both more disjointed and better paced than Heat CHeat? L. A. Fakedown? Anyway, this is Heat if Heat was stupid. That’s not necessarily a bad thing? (Also not a great thing) This is basically bargain bin Heat, but it's also far better than it has any right to be. Sturdy action, and Butler is hilarious as always. Solid entertainment, even if it fails to justify its punishing 140-minute runtime.
